MADANG police commander acting Supt Robert Baim is urging all small boat operators to take care of themselves during this unpredictable weather.
“This is a warning to all small boat operators and passengers in the region regarding the current unpredictable weather patterns to take care of themselves,” he said.
He emphasised the critical nature of the weather, highlighting that signals had been dispatched to all coastal provinces, including Madang, urging more vigilance and adherence to safety protocols.
“Police will go through these rough weather to rescue you, but prevention is better than curing,” Baim added.
“Let’s hear, listen to and follow instructions for our own good and the good of our community.”
He said the warning served as a pre-emptive measure to safeguard the lives and wellbeing of all individuals travelling by small boats amidst the uncertain conditions prevalent in the region.
Everyone, he said, should take heed of the warnings issued by the National Weather Office in Port Moresby, urging individuals to prioritise safety over convenience.
