A POLICEMAN who allegedly stole cash from a detainee in Manus is out on K300 bail and expected to appear in the Lorengau Court this week.
Manus police commander Chief Insp David Yapu said the 31-year-old constable had been suspended for 21 days pending the court outcome.
Yapu said the first constable had been arrested and charged with stealing.
It was alleged that the detainee was arrested for domestic violence and locked up in the holding cell.
His waist bag containing K460 was given to the first constable who was the shift supervisor.
Upon his release from custody, he found the bag emptied and enquired about his money.
Yapu directed an investigation which led to the arrest of the policeman.
