A POLICEMAN who allegedly killed two men in Port Moresby last year has denied the allegations against him and asked the court to dismiss his charges at Committal Court in Waigani yesterday.
Komeng Gubag, 34, from Sumkar’s Wakon village in Madang, said this during his declaration statement before magistrate Danny Wakikura following the ruling on the sufficiency of police evidence against him on July 12 for two counts of murder.
“I did not kill the two men at Garden Hills as alleged and I am innocent,” Gubag said.
He maintained what was submitted by his lawyer, David Dotaona, in the submission that there was insufficient evidence on police file to have him tried in the National Court.
Gubag said: “There were many policemen at Garden Hills at that night, lots of bullets were shot and one of them may have killed the men. They didn’t identify the other policemen but identified me because I was a long-time resident there.
“I was charged with two counts of murder which I did not commit.”
