TWO Rabaul policemen in East New Britain have been arrested and charged with traffic offences, with one being suspended from duty for 21 days.
Both are to appear in court this week.
According to provincial police commander Chief Insp Joseph Tabali, they were allegedly involved in separate accidents in Rabaul on Dec 12 and May 23 respectively.
Chief Insp Tabali said Const Rocky Milan, 29, from Goroka, Eastern Highlands, was driving on the wrong lane near Hamamas Hotel in Rabaul at 4pm on Dec 12 and collided with an oncoming vehicle driven by a civilian.
He was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and speeding, Chief Insp Tabali said.
“He was arrested and charged with two accounts of driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving causing accident,” Chief Insp Tabali said. Const Milan has been suspended for 21 days.
In the other police traffic offence, a first constable was arrested and charged with causing an accident on May 23.
