MILNE Bay elections manager Dadu Daga has raised concerns about some PNG Defence Force soldiers dressed in full battle gear who went straight to Esa’ala yesterday.
Daga said that he did not know who authorised the soldiers to be deployed to Normanby Island.
He said even the police hierarchy in Milne Bay did not know who gave the orders for the soldiers to go to the island.
“No one consulted us,” Daga said, adding two helicopters were sighted in town.
One was the Eye in the Sky and the other a private helicopter with a police emblem on it.
“We are going to find out why these soldiers and the helicopters are here because we have enough security personnel for the elections,” Daga said.
