THE Somare faction should accept reality and become one of the best oppositions in the PNG parliament, said Treasurer and Finance Minister Don Polye.
Polye said the fight over the leadership was over.
He said being in opposition could prove to the people that they were an alternative government by their performance and return after the election to form a new government.
He said there was no time to waste as there were only four months left to the issue of writs.
Meanwhile, Polye said the people had shown maturity during the current political crisis.
He said their action had proved critics from outside the country wrong that there would be some kind of civil war in the country.
“I thank all citizens for supporting the government and living peacefully throughout the recent impasse between the two sides of the parliament,” he said.
National Planning Minister Sam Basil said the Somare faction should represent their people in parliament and contribute meaningfully by debating important polices.
