POM snooker handicap competition enters finals

THE SP 2011 Port Moresby Country Club team snooker handicap competition will go into the finals series next Tuesday.
With one game remaining in group A, Rok Roks led by Chris Ningis look set to top this pool ahead of JKL Eagles, Mood Spoilers and Titans, while Danny Earles’ JD Reepers, Numa Alu’s Team Komatsu and Dau Dau are the three teams will hang up their cues for another year.
In group B, Lamana with veteran Ken Leo at the helm are way ahead of JKL Eagles team 2 and GAL Tura’s who will finish either second or third while BB Breakers and TST Pyramids are still fighting for the fourth place.
The others whose season has come to an end are the Sea Eagles 44, Bombex Blue Rangers and Murub Naikos.
PNG Billiards and Snooker Association public relations officer John Chan said the knockouts cue off next Tuesday with Rok Roks up against fourth place from pool B and pool B second spot JKL Eagles 2 will battle it out with third place from pool A.
On Thursday, it will be the second round of knockouts between top team in pool B, Lamana against fourth place from pool A, while in the next knockout match will be pool A second spot JKL Eagles against pool B third placing who could be the Titans or Mood Spoilers.
Losers bow out for the year while the winners advance to the semi-finals on Saturday.
The grand final will be held on Oct 16 at 2pm at the Port Moresby Country Club.
Chan said the highest break so far has been 31 by Lamana’s Ken Leo with the next being 30 by Warren Gai of RokRoks.
“Games have been played at a very high standard and the competition has been exciting,” Chan said.
