PORT Moresby Soccer Association yesterday concluded week four of its preseason competition with men’s Pool C ladder-leaders Mungkas FC finishing their round games on top of the table after recording two wins over the weekend.
Mungkas won their first pool game on Saturday defeating Haraga FC 3-1 before edging Solomon United 1-0 on Sunday to collect six competition points.
Meanwhile, in the women’s division Finance FC and University have completed their round-robin games and await the other women’s games to be completed this weekend.
The games over the weekend saw teams fighting to cement their places in the top four before the competition heads into the finals.
Mungkas in their last pool game against Solomon battled for a win as Terence Sakuk put his side ahead with his 19th minute goal as they led into the break.
The second half resumed with Solomon putting more pressure as Oliver Vele, Johannes Bob and Abraham Mari attempting to equalise but to no avail as Mungkas kept them at bay and defended goal until end the final whistle.
Meanwhile, all remaining pool games will be played this weekend before the competition goes into finals next weekend.
The top four teams from each division for both men’s and women’s will qualify for the playoff with most teams still struggling to secure the top four placings.
