THE Moresby Men’s Softball Association will proceed with its finals as soon as the Government lifts the Covid-19 state of emergency to allow sporting facilities to reopen, says an official.
Association vice-president Ali Daveona said week one of the finals would see top-five elimination matches played across A and B grades.
He said the playoffs would continue for three weeks with the grand final scheduled to be held on the fourth.
Daveona said United Brothers are the A-Grade minor premiers followed by PNG Power, defending champions Brown Eagles, Defence and Gazelle.
In the B grade, Gazelle finished on top followed by Mariners, United Brothers, Brown Eagles and Kikila Cats.
Daveona said some strong club had missed out on the playoffs after struggling all season.
“Moresby softball powerhouses Bears and Yokomo had a disappointing season,” he said.
“Aviat Jetz finish the season without a win. But the positive thing is that they got their act together at the back end of the season and played some good softball.”
Meanwhile, Daveona urged the players who were selected for the national softball championship to continue doing their own training while waiting for the Covid-19 situation to improve.
