WATER cuts to most parts of Port Moresby are expected to continue despite assurances from Eda Ranu’s head office that the city’s water woes would be over by Sunday.
Work is still being carried out at the main water and feeder pipes up in Erima by contractors to get water supply back to normal.
According to officials on site, there was a leakage on one of the feeder pipes that supplies water to most parts of the city.
They said Eda Ranu detected the leakage last week and decided to shut down water to the city last Friday after advising public about the problem.
The disruptions to water over the weekend affected users in Konedobu, Town, Hanuabada, Kanudi, Waigani Tokarara, Hohola, Korobosea and Boroko.
A notice from Eda Ranu last Friday read there would be disruptions of water supply from Dec 18 to 20 for urgent repairs on the water mains.
In the meantime, Eda Ranu has advised public to store water and boil water as water rationing would continue until repairs had been completed.
