THREE more organisations have joined the Port Moresby Women’s Softball Association, competing in the corporate slow pitch competition, which started last week.
The three companies are Abt Associates, Nambawan Super Limited and National Airports Corporation.
Association president Ian Soweni said the companies were allowed to enter the competition because of their support in previous seasons.
“All three have played in the previous season and have supported the association, so we’ve given them the nod,” he said.
Five other companies have also shown interest to join the competition.
The companies are Kumul Consolidated Holdings, Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited (MVIL), Southern Cross Assurance Limited, Avis and QBE Insurance.
But Soweni said they would have to meet the association’s requirements before joining the competition.
“Since it’s a fundraiser and we’d like companies to have fun, we’ve decided to allow those five,” he said.
“But the executives have set some conditions for them to comply with before they play in round three.”
Soweni said new companies would not be allowed to register teams moving forward.
“We don’t want to add more teams because we’re only playing on Saturdays,” he said.
“Now that we have 17 teams, our aim is to finalise the draws and run the competition.
“We want to make sure that we finish before the general election starts.”
