I WISH to express my sincere congratulation to my tribesman, former CEO of Vanimo General Hospital, and newly elected MP for Pomio, Elias Kapavore for successfully wining the by-election.

I also extend my thanks to those who contested with him in the recent bye-elections for fulfilling our democratic process.

The Pomio people must be also commended for demonstrating maturity, and respect for the electoral laws and processes in ensuring that the election was trouble free, and counting was smoothly conducted without major interruption.

Hon Kapavore, I am confident that you would deliver some basic services that Pomio people lack over the years. It is good that in your maiden speech, as circulated in the social media, confirmed your inclusive views and openness to all Pomios to support you in your endeavour to turning Pomio into a positive face.

I urged you to not look far but utilise the elites of Pomios to drive the implementation of the development strategies and policies that you will be articulating for the district. In other words, it would be worthy to utilise the local content of Pomio knowledge and experiences on development challenges from those who you will be choosing to assist your effort  in  identifying right solutions  for the development problems. Sometimes, as experienced shown from past MPs, opting for outsiders to be on your side do not naturally fall in line with Pomio situation, because they could be working for money instead of having heart for our people.

I know you are adamant to at least deliver tangible development within the two remaining years of this term of Parliament.

May God bless you and our people of Pomio.
