SOFTEX Poro FC came from 2-1 behind to beat Prima Smallgood PNG Power FC 5-4 in a Ox & Palm women’s national soccer league match at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium last Saturday.

Poro now leads the points table with two wins.

The power women were first to open scoring when in the third minute coordinated midfield play allowed Rita Mayang to net.

But Poro regrouped quickly to send Staphino Gani in for the equaliser.

With the slippery playing condition the power women countered Poro to put Mayang through for her second to regain the lead 2-1 into half-time.

The third goal for PNG Power came in the 52nd minute when Poro goalkeeper Schola Kazam slipped trying to save a shot and opened the door for Luvena Karo to score.

The 3-1 lead was cutback when Papua New Guinea international Zeena Limbai received a good ball from Judith Gunemba amd netted.

Limbai backed that up with a second goal moments later when she headed in.

The Power women, sensing the game slipping from their grasp, reorganised to make their way into the Poro defenders with Ireng Karo on the left flanker setting Luvena for her second goal to take over the lead again 4-3.

Poro stayed in contention when Wone Gabong headed the ball into the net from a corner kick to make it 4-4.

Limbai completed her hat-trick in the 77th minute to win the game 5-4.

Outstanding players for Poro were Limbai, Megan Gunemba, Gani, Gabong and Judith while the Mayang, Luvena, Carolyn Obi and Natasha Kily stood out for the PNG Power FC.

Poro FC will take on Barra FC next week before a double header in the Telikom NSL men’s game.
