MORE than 19,000 students visited Port Moresby Nature Park last year compared with 16,000 in 2016, general manager Michelle McGeorge says.
The park’s school excursion programme started in 2012 and was structured to go with the curriculum in schools, with lessons for different grades.
The park recorded more than 129,000 visitors last year, 15 per cent up from the previous year.
“We are extremely pleased with the goals we achieved last year,” McGeorge said.
“This year, with the Apec meetings as well as the construction
of new park exhibits, we are expecting to reach over 145,000 visitors, firmly cementing our place as PNG’s highest-visited attraction.”
The park has additional features like the new Gogodala river canoe display and the construction of a new reptile precinct, which will be opened in April.
