Post PNG chief sidelined
The National, Tuesday 28th March 2013
POST PNG has suspended chief executive Peter Maiden pending investigation into allegations of mismanagement and misconduct in office against him.
Post PNG board chairman Reuben Aila said the suspension was effective from March 23.
It will be for two months but may be extended, depending on
the investigation.
“It is only fair and proper that the suspension takes place for an independent investigation to proceed as the allegations are very serious and cannot be ignored,” Aila said.
“The allegations range from gross abuse of the position of chief executive officer, financial mismanagement, misconduct and
other irregularities.”
Aila said Post PNG was an important asset , especially to people in the rural areas, and with declining business mainstream revenue it was important that the company was put into order.
He said the allegations would not help the resolve of the government and the board to re-organise and re-shape the company to compete in a changing information-communication world.
Maiden would be on full pay and had been urged not to leave the country and to cooperate with the investigation, Aila said.
Company chief financial officer Greyling Park will be the acting chief executive meanwhile.
