Powi makes first payment for roads rehab

THE Southern Highlands provincial government yesterday made a part payment to a local-based construction company, Oceania Ltd, for upgrading of provincial roads in the 

province.

Governor William Powi handed over K600,000 as first instalment to Oceania Ltd managing director Sape Molume in brief ceremony held at Airways Hotel in Port Moresby.

Powi said the money derived from the provincial services improvement fund of which K2 million was earmarked for the improvements of roads.

SHP has earmarked K10 million for restoration programme in Southern Highlands which also covers health and education.

Powi said in line with the national government policy of year of implementation, Southern Highlands had its own theme – restoration, rehabilitation and stability in governance – with the focus on restoration programme throughout the province.

Oceania Ltd has been contracted to seal Ialibu roads and other major works in Kagua and Erave.

Molume thanked the provincial government for having confidence in his company which had delivered several projects on time.
