RESIDENTS of Alotau in Milne Bay have been urged to maintain peace while MPs from various political parties arrive for PNC Party leader Peter O’Neill’s camp.
Provincial police commander Lincoln Gerari said a number of high profile MPs, including the caretaker prime minister and former prime ministers, were in the province.
“This is a significant and historical occasion for the province and I urge people to behave and stay out of trouble,” he said.
“If events turn out right this will be the first time a national government will be formed in this province.”
Gerari said he had deployed 40 men to provide security for the MPs during their stay.
“Only people with valid identification cards are allowed to enter the place were the
MPs are gathering,” he said.
