PNG Power remains committed to carrying forward the goals set by its outgoing acting managing director Carolyn Blacklock for the company to become safe, reliable, and financially viable, says acting chief executive officer Douglas Mageo.
Mageo, in a statement, thanked Blacklock for her time in serving the company over the last 18 months.
“The company had the great privilege of working alongside a committed and transparent individual who set a clear direction for the future,” Mageo said.
“Her decision to leave PNG Power has saddened many staff but PNG Power remains focused on achieving the goal of becoming a safe, reliable and financially viable.”
Mageo stressed that company’s goal could only be achieved through team work and urged staff to continue to work together in delivering services to the people.
“More effort is needed to achieve our ultimate goal in returning to much cleaner, cheaper and reliable energy sources such as hydro while also transitioning to natural gas. There is no doubt these energy sources will contribute in bringing the tariff down and improving our reliability figures.”
Mageo thanked the governments of Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the US and other stakeholders for their continued support.
“We are grateful to our partners and companies such as Deloittes, who are ensuring financial compliance within the organisation and the team from Partners in Performance for ensuring our key performance indicators are set and our performance is aligned to targets,” he said.
