THE People’s Progress Party has thanked the New Irelanders for the faith they showed in them.
The party’s three candidates won all the seats in the province.
Kavieng open MP-elect and reformist Ben Micah encouraged the people to better understand the political history of New Ireland.
“You have been diverted in your alliance with the PPP because you forgot about the history of PPP in New Ireland dating back to the first national elections in 1968,” Micah said.
He urged the people of Namatanai to be patriotic and proud of home-grown leaders and parties such as the People’s Progress Party and its founder, Sir Julius Chan.
“You should be proud that one of the national treasures of PNG will still rule this province and nation, one who fought for independence and removed colonials from your homeland.”
Micah attributed 60% of his win being attained through the party policies in the province.
Namatanai MP Byron Chan pledged to make a major reshuffle of the administration of all LLGs in Namatanai district.
He said funds had been delivered to every LLG in his district in the past five years but the extent of work done was either prolonged or non-existent.
