Pray, fast for country: Reverend

Faith

MEMBERS of a Christian church are set to fast and pray for three weeks starting next month for the country.
Body of Christ chairman Rev Joseph Walters made the announcement, saying Bible scriptures taught that it was necessary to pray for the country in these challenging times.
“Based on the scriptural promises and conditions for national cleansing, healing and prosperity in 2 Chronicles 7:14; and the many issues challenging the nation, the Body of Christ churches are declaring yet another nationwide 21 days of prayer and fasting commencing on Sunday,” he said.
Rev Walters said different church leaders would be praying on Christian radio station Wantok Radio Light daily from 7.30am.
He asked Christians and all citizens participate in humility, repentance and seeking God in their personal lives, family, tribes, community and the nation.
“When we come in to God in humility and contrition, we engage, invoke and involve God to work on our behalf and intervene in our national affairs,” Rev Walters said.
“There are issues that affect us that are not easy to manage on our own terms.
“We need divine intervention.”
“One such is the threats posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
“Another is the serious harm caused by corruption and associated problems.
“We are calling on all church leaders and churches to stand united as we did in the recent past against common enemies that threaten our safety and wellbeing and pray together.”
