TWO senior officers have been based at Hayfield, in Maprik, East Sepik, for the past two months to conduct identity surveys, land investigations and discuss the Maprik Airport land with landowners from Wora and Kwatgu.

Hayfield Airport Development is an impact project being resurrected by Maprik MP John Simon and he sent provincial land adviser DauWasikay and officer Caspar Wangi to do the groundwork.

Wasikay said the ground rules, land and related issues must be sorted

out with landowners before any impact projects. “I am very thankful to Simon for bringing us here to do this thing as this will help make preparations for the Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill’s, visit this week for the Hayfield Airport ground-breaking ceremony,” Wasikay said.

“We will support our MP to see the project off the ground.”

He said Simon did the right thing to engage a team to carryout investigations on the land for the proposed projects. K1 million was allocated for the project.
