Prepare for increase in demand for vaccination

Letters

WITH the increasing number of Coronavirus (Covid-19) Delta variant cases in Eastern Highlands and other parts of Papua New Guinea, there would be an unprecedented demand for vaccination.
I doubt that our health system will be able to meet this demand.
What approach has the Health Department taken to fund equipment needed for hospitals and health centres in Eastern Highlands, Western Highlands and other parts of PNG heavily hit by this pandemic?
What happened to the Covid-19 funds?
PNG is approaching the peak of this pandemic and it appears that we will be seeking foreign assistance again when we get there.
Vaccination is the way forward.
According to Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation: “If there is one thing the world has learned about Covid-19 over the last year, it is this – the pandemic will only end when almost everyone on the planet is vaccinated against the virus.”
The Government should conduct a feasibility study and assess how other developing countries have managed to effectively deal with the Covid-19.
Our provinces will need some more funding to prepare for the worst.
The Government has to do something right now.
