I TOTALLY agree with Dr Jacob Simet that some religious practices on the Day of Repentance are too extreme and lack sensitivity to our unique cultural heritage. Some of our political leaders are very much like Pharisees in Jesus Christ’s time. They advocate religious fanaticism to an extent that they destroy the blessings of a unique cultural identity given to us by God himself. The House of Parliament is a civic institution, so don’t turn it into a church. It stands as a symbol of our democracy and our rights as a sovereign nation. The rich cultural diversity and governing power of the people are based on our cultural heritage.
