THE health message is preached alongside the Word of God so that the people can enjoy life while serving the Lord, a church leader says.
The University of Papua New Guinea’s Seventh-day Adventist Church health ministry leader Merilyn Jonathan said having a regular medical check was important and people should not visit the hospital only when they got sick.
The church organised a health check last week to tell people about their health status.
Jonathan said the health message was one of the fundamental beliefs of the church.
People were checked for their body mass index (BMI), blood pressure level, blood sugar level, dental check and eyes check and ears, nose and throat check.
She said people were advised on what to do to improve their health.
Jonathan said many diseases were caused by what one ate hence it was important to choose wisely to live a long and healthy life.
“Prevention is better than cure,” she said.
