Principal: New college, result of passion for youths

CARITAS Girls Technical Secondary School in Port Moresby opened its new business college last Tuesday offering young women tertiary courses.
Principal Joselle Valmonte said the official opening of Caritas Business College was a result of the Caritas Sisters in Jesus, their passion for the youth and commitment in supporting the Catholic Church in pursuing its mission through education in Papua New Guinea.
“It was in 2019, that the thought of extending a secondary school to a business college came to light to save our students and others giving them the opportunity to continue their studies,” she said.
“Reaching a major milestone likes this can only be achieved through incredible work.”
Valmonte thanked the school’s committed and hardworking staff, students and teachers and parents.
“The Caritas administration thanks you all for standing with us through this journey.”
Witnessing another breakthrough in the history of Caritas Girls Technical Secondary School, Valmonte said: “On behalf of the Caritas Sisters of Jesus, I sincerely acknowledge everyone’s presence today, together we can succeed in properly shaping the human resources of this country.”
Apostolic Nuncio to PNG Rev Fermín Emilio Sosa Rodríguez urged Caritas students to take the opportunity and focus on their dreams while they were there.
“I would like to congratulate the Caritas Sisters for opening a new school giving more opportunities in education,” he said.
The college has been recognised by the Government through the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.
