Prioritise education to help combat lawlessness, MP says

PRIORITISING education can help address ongoing law and order issues, including continuous tribal fights in Porgera-Paiela, Porgera MP Maso Karipe says.
“Our district development authority (DDA) is, therefore, making education its main agenda and has allocated K1 million for school fees,” he said.
“The DDA will help all tertiary students from the district who are studying in universities and colleges nationwide with their school fees.”
Karipe urged parents, guardians and communities to work with him in promoting education in the district in whatever capacity.
“Let us work together to promote education and improve the lives of our children and generations,” he added.
Karipe said that the school fees would be given through a list provided by the Ipili Students Society.
“All Ipili, Paiela and Maip Mulitaka tertiary students must liaise with the society and register for the school fee assistance programme,” he said.
“All fees will be paid directly to school accounts.”
