THE Private Companies Netball Competition club delegates have elected Julie Mai as president for a two-year term (2019-2020).
Mai was voted in during the annual general meeting at Holiday Inn on Saturday, replacing incumbent Kori Toua Navuru, who is now the treasurer. The new president represents the Nambawan Super while Navuru is with bmobile now and is one of the competition’s executive.
Mai’s deputy is Bank South Pacific’s Theresa Ezekiel who will take charge of the association with the support of the other executive members. The other executives elected were secretary Glenda Ray (Price Waterhouse Coopers), deputy secretary Vavine Pianta (Bishops) and deputy treasurer Jackie Kwalu (Westpac).
Mai said the season would be shorter due to the late start with another four round remaining before the playoffs which has yet to be confirmed in the delegates meeting. She said the private companies netball competition was to focus on corporate image to interact and maintain fitness for female employees.
“This is a successful competition that draws companies especially from National Capital District to take Sundays off and come and play for fun and enjoyment.”
Mai said this competition was one of the biggest off-season competition in the country and had grown from strength to strength.
