THE Private Companies Netball competition has brought forward its Christmas break with the competition heading into recess starting this weekend.
Sunday’s matches would have seen game three fixtures of round two played, however, competition president Julie Mai told The National yesterday the games had been deferred and the remainder of the season would be completed in 2023.
“The deferral has been brought forward due to Christmas commitments starting this weekend,” Mai said.
“The competition is expected to commence on Jan 15. There will be three more games to be played in the New Year before we go into the finals.”
The competition completed its first round of games a fortnight ago with teams competing in the premier and senior divisions (1-16).
Each divisions in the premier and senior have six teams, with five matches per round.
She said most companies or organisations had gelled well since the beginning of the competition despite competitive encounters at the Rita Flynn outdoor courts.
“Starting off from the outdoor courts was challenging, as the competition is normally held indoors,” Mai said.
“Players struggled with the heat at first. However, games have been running smoothly in accordance to the rules and regulations and it is pleasing to note teams are aware of these rules and ensure their players are guided accordingly.
“On behalf of the executives, we wish all the members a safe and blessed Christmas and New Year.”
Mai said the progressive ladder would be out before the end of the week.
