Private firm renovates finger prints office

A FOREIGN-owned construction company has renovated the finger prints office of the National Forensic centre in Gordon, Port Moresby at its own cost.
Building and Construction Management Services (BCMS) Group of Companies director Theodosios Monogenis said during the officiating ceremony yesterday that they had renovated the office after seeing its deteriorated state.
The renovation cost the company about K86,000.
“I decided to help renovate the office after visiting last September to get my character reference,” Monogenis said.
“We need the police to provide a safe environment for us to do business.
“I also thank the Qmec PNG Ltd for supplying electrical materials, equipment and Nippon Paint for supplying painting materials.”
Deputy police commissioner administration Raphael Huafolo, in thanking Monogenis, said that such assistance under the private-partnership programme would help boost the efforts of the finger print technicians to help detectives investigate crimes.
Huafolo said that about K3 million earmarked in 2013 under the police modernisation programme to renovate the deteriorating forensic and finger prints offices was diverted to sudden and unplanned urgent tasks.
