PRL to hold meeting, elect boards on Saturday

THE Port Moresby Rugby League will hold its annual general meeting on Saturday to elect its board.
The meeting which was orginally set for Jan 20 but was deferred due to lack of quorum.
Chairman Dr James Naipao said the annual general meeting (AGM) would be held at 6pm on Feb 3 at the Oil Search National Football Stadium..
“At this AGM, the clubs and affiliates will only confirm the nominations that have come in during the 14-day nomination period,” Naipao said.
“For the AGM, a one-month notice was published last year as required by the constitution of the Port Moresby Rugby Football League.
“The nominations closed on Jan 20. The only nominations that have come through are those of the current board members. Clubs and affiliates that were present for the AGM last Saturday were Tarangau, Dobo Warriors, Hawks, Butterflies and Kone Storms.
“Magani came in late, Royals delivered a letter and left.
“All the board members were present.”
Naipao said clubs and officials absent were Royals, Tigers, Paga Panthers, Brothers, Souths, Hohola Flies, West, Defence, the women’s president and referees president.
“Due to non-compliance of the requirements by clubs and affiliates to attend the AGM, it was deferred to Feb 3,” he said.
Naipao said for clubs to attend the AGM to elect the board, they must or must have paid the K1000 affiliation fee, and provide the 2017 annual and financial reports.
Known club presidents and presidents of affiliates are eligible to attend this AGM.
In the event, a president is unable to attend, a nominated club official can attend only after a proxy is signed preferably by the president.
Meanwhile, Naipao said that only four clubs have paid their affiliation fees.
He also urged all clubs to collect registration forms to prepare for the season 2018.
