Processing of NID cards continues, Mobiha says

PROCESSING of National Identification (NID) cards will continue as the department tries to meet its targets in completing registrations, acting registrar-general Noel Mobiha says.
Despite civil servants taking a break from work during the festive season, NID staff continued to work, he said.
Following a decision made last month by Cabinet to have all public servants registered, Mobiha also urged other citizens to get registered as it was a Government directive.
“The decision made by the Government is for the public servants but that doesn’t mean just them – everyone must get registered and that’s our plea,” he said.
“We want the public servants and every individual to get registered.
“The decision has pushed us to continue with the processing and we’ve done that.
“While everyone is enjoying Christmas, my team is working overnight and that will continue as we go into the New Year and onwards.
“I am also honoured to announce that a few of my team from the provincial level are in the Port Moresby office now helping out with the data base information and registration of their provinces.
“The decision is very clear, public servants, you cannot prolong this decision by taking your time to get registered.”
