THE Bank South Pacific Financial Group Limited (BSP) has partnered with the Australian Business Volunteers (ABV) to train small-medium enterprise (SME) owners in the country.
BSP chief executive officer Mark Robinson told the BSP and ABV Your Enterprise Scheme Grow programme launch in Port Moresby last week that the company had been in partnership with the ABV since 2018.
Robinson said the YES Grow programme initiated by both parties was a good approach to empower SME owners by developing their skills, business acumens and foster their business growth.
The programme aims to reach over 300 SMEs covering Port Moresby, Lae and Mt Hagen.
However, the rollout for Port Moresby SME participants has been completed covering a total of 113 SME owners been trained.
The rollout for Lae will begin next month (from November to February 2024) following with Mt Hagen SME participants from April to May next year.
The programme provides tailored business development skills, including bookkeeping, sales and marketing and tax return submissions
ABV CEO Liz Mackinlay said ABV has been operating in the Pacific for over 40 years and has delivered over 500 programmes in over 30 countries including Papua New Guinea.
She said the aim of the programme was to provide small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with skills, experience and necessary tools to grow their businesses.
“We working alongside BSP to help SME owners or managers to learn practical skills, knowledge and tools that would help them manage their businesses better,” she said.
