THE European Union-Unicef-PNG Government WaSH project phase two implementation partner World Vision’s WaSH team rescued the Panguna Health Centre from its water woes, resulting in the re-opening of the centre early this month.
More than 3,000 people in Panguna can now access health services at their doorsteps.
The Panguna Health Centre in Bougainville acts as a filter or screen for the Arawa Town Hospital by helping patients from the area.
Three months ago, the Bougainville Public Health Authorities closed the health centre following poor water supply. The authorities concluded that the health centre with its water issues posed a health risk to the Panguna community.
