THE 12th graduation at the Datec Learning Centre’s Lae campus saw two engineering students graduate with diplomas in project management.
Final-year student Daniel Minamo and third-year student Elizah Yane are both current students from the PNG University of Technology’s civil engineering department.
Speaking to The National, both Minamo and Yane said they applied for studies as a way to enhance their knowledge in the field of civil engineering and project management.
Yane said project management is a subject taken during their third-year of studies.
The inclusion of their attained diplomas will complement their academic qualifications in the long run.
“Civil engineering is all about projects, having an engineering degree alone is not enough, we need strong management skills and this course is an additional bonus to our degree we are currently working towards,” Yane said.
He said it is a worthwhile investment in education, given the need for project management in the engineering industry, and encouraged parents and sponsors to support interested applicants.
A total of 66 students graduated from the institute with diplomas in either project management, information technology or business management.
