Promote local heroes

WE need to learn to promote and publicise local champions in every aspect of life in PNG. We need to build a nation made of idols, mentors and stars of PNG. Our news media needs re-alignment. What we studied at journalism school is “developmental journalism” (Third World journalism) and not “gutter press” of the developed world. What makes a front page in The National and Post Courier should be about the struggles and/or about village champions who become millionaires through business enterprises. Unfortunately, it is not the case now in PNG. Our front pages are all about politicians, corruption, sex, money, corporations and crime. Only time will tell where we are heading to.
