Protect local designs: Sios

BUSINESSWOMAN Janet Sios has urged government agencies to create markets as well as protect traditional designs used in the fashion industry.
Sios, who is also founder of PNG Fashion and Design Week, became concerned after seeing an increased number of talented local designers struggle to find markets and the growing fear of losing their designs to non-Papua New Guineans.
“Everybody wears clothing,” she said.
“In every family, you find someone who can knit or sew, a person who can draw or sketch a design.”
