THE people of Namatanai turned up in numbers last week to witness another ‘Belhat development project’ worth some K1 million by the district development authority.
The project delivered two 30-seater school buses for the Namatanai Secondary School and a truck each for the Mama Market for the West Coast Sentral women in wards 15 to 18 and the Tabar Landowners Association.
“Women can now bring their fresh produce to the market from Kokola to Messi,” Namatanai MP Walter Schnaubelt said.
Schnaubelt, who is Forestry Minister, told the landowner association’s chairman Alois Bonny to take charge of the truck and use it well to ensure it serves the people of Tabar Islands.
“There are three islands in Tabar and I want this truck to serve them all,” he said.
“Every year, you will receive K20,000 for registration and maintenance and service of vehicle and administration for you and your executive.”
Schnaubelt said the Namatanai Advancement Ltd would take charge of Mama Market and the two buses for the Namatanai Secondary School.
