Province to do more awareness

REGIONAL technical vocational education training (Tvet) East New Britain (ENB) is to do more awareness in secondary schools in the province, according to New Guinea Islands coordinator Tasman Dau.
Dau said secondary and high schools needed to think about the bulk of grade 10 and 12 students in the schools, hence, the new approach.
Teachers need to assist their students with other pathways because only 20 per cent will secure tertiary institutions and colleges and the other 80 per cent – where would they go? Dau asked. He said this after commending Warangoi Secondary School in Pomio and visiting St Maria Gorethy Kabaira Girls’ vocational training centre in Gazelle last Monday to learn more about the sector and the programmes they ran.
Dau did a presentation to Warangoi Secondary teachers about the overall PNG educational framework and the Tvet sector.
He said more awareness about the Tvet sector should be done to the public and secondary schools to prepare them for their pathway.
