Province trials remittances

 THE Enga provincial government will try a new system to find out if it can remit tuition fee free (TFF) funds to their schools, Secretary for Education Michael Tapo said.

He said it would begin once the government signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for K10.2 million with the Enga government.

He said the project was basically to find out if provinces could remit government funds to their schools rather than from Waigani.

He said the Enga government was one of the first to have come to the government to trial the model.

Based on their supervision, monitoring, assessment and evaluation of the project, it would provide a basis for the department to use in other provinces.
