Public servants reserve jobs for foreigners

I WAS with a young man at his worksite.

I asked what his minimum wage per hour was.

He would not disclose it and I respected it.

He said to me there were no deductions made from his salary to Nasfund.

Apart from this, he revealed to me some of his concerns.

He said no personal protective equipment was issued to workers.

He began to spill the beans further about his employer, naming some low level positions filled by expatriates.

This was a worker who knew some of his rights and employment laws.

If all these revelations are factual, then we have responsible public servants allowing jobs reserved for citizens to be given to foreigners.

It is happening under the jurisdiction of the Department of Labour and Industrial Relations.
