Public servants urged to get NID cards

THE Civil Identity and Registry (CIR) office is urging public servants who are yet to register to have their national identity (NID) cards processed.
Registrar general Noel Mobiha said CIR and the Department of Personnel Management (DPM) were working to have public servants registered.
He said they had evening and night registrations for public servants in Port Moresby so they could call in after 4pm to enquire and have their NID cards and birth certificates processed.
“This is a plea to all public servants to tell us where they are so we can process their NID cards,” he said.
“CIR and the Department of Personnel Management are trying to help public servants.”
Public servants outside Port Moresby were advised to call the CIR office call centre to have their documents processed.
Mobiha said the fast-tracking process for public servants was free and they could have their NID cards processed within 24 hours.
The Government said public servants who were not registered and were without NID cards would be taken off the payroll and wouldn’t be paid their entitlements.
“Registration and cards help prevent ghost names on the payroll.”
