Public solicitor Mamu launches fifth book

PUBLIC Solicitor Leslie Mamu had his fifth book launched yesterday by Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika.
The book titled “National Court Appeals” is a guide for lawyers, judges and citizens who are aggrieved by decisions of the courts.
Sir Gibbs congratulated Mamu for his time and effort in writing the book as it would be of great help to those who wanted to understand the appeals process.
“I congratulate you for writing such a comprehensive book to guide our people,” he said.
Sir Gibbs said the book would be a valuable reference for those in the legal fraternity and the public.
He urged those interested in knowing more about PNG’s court system to buy a copy.
Mamu is from Nonga village in Rabaul, East New Britain.
He has practiced law since 2008.
This book adds to four others he authored, including Living Your Dreams, The Human Resource, The Law and Principles of Bail in PNG and Practice and Procedure of the Supreme Court in PNG.
Present at the event were Attorney-General Dr Eric Kwa, Correctional Services Commissioner Stephen Pokanis, CLRC secretary Dr Mange Matui, Public Prosecutor Pondros Kaluwin, LTI director Angela Paranda, Chief Magistrate Mark Pupaka, Prof David Kavanamur, IRC Commissioner General Sam Koim.
