PUMA Energy is eyeing opportunities to develop its downstream and refinery businesses within Papua New Guinea, general manager Peter Diezmann says.

Diezmann (pictured) said last Friday Puma would be restructuring its businesses in the next financial year to meet expectations of its customers.

He highlighted the resources sector as a potential market for its refinery business. “We expect that next year there will be continued activity in the resources sector, some of the mineral and gas projects are starting, so we will be keeping contact with all those customers, to service their requirements

“We will be making sure that we structure our business to supply the requirements of those customers and projects as they become into either production or development stage depending on their life cycle,” he said.

Puma Energy operates an extensive network of fuel terminals, retail service stations and aviation facilities in the country.

Regarding Puma Energy’s rebranding exercise, Diezmann said the firm to date had rebranded up to 20 fuel stations in Port Moresby, Lae and some regional locations.

“We have another 25-30 to rebrand. We’ve just completed a scoping exercise in the Highlands last week for beginning rebranding exercise for the Highlands site and then will be followed by the Islands,” he said.

Diezmann had earlier said the rebranding of a fuel station alone stands at around A$100,000 (K211,056).

Puma Energy plans to rebrand its entire retail network by next March.
