PUMA service stations are rationing only petrol in Port Moresby due to the late arrival of fuel, says Puma Energy PNG Limited country general manager Hulala Tokome.
“We have had to ration unleaded petrol in Port Moresby due to a late arrival of our fuel tanker which gets into Port Moresby on Saturday,” he said.
“Our fuel tanker encountered a delay due to cyclonic weather conditions off the North West coast of Australia.
“We should have all our retail sites well stocked with unleaded petrol by Sunday (April 23).
Note that this is only impacting unleaded petrol, hence we have had to prudently commence rationing at our sites.”
The Puma service station near the University of Papua New Guinea campus has been limiting petrol to K20 per vehicle every fill-up.
“Each service station dealer are implementing their rationing levels until this Saturday,” Tokome said.
Also ensuring that pump prices are strictly in compliance to Independent Consumer and Competition Commission approved pricing.
“ULP or unleaded petrol is the correct name for petrol or gasoline that is referred to and used in PNG.”
Unleaded petrol contains a reduced amount of tetraethyl lead, in order to reduce environmental pollution.
