PUTTING God first is the pathway for Chimbu’s Gumine in the next five years, says local MP Lucas Dawa Dekena.
Dekena made the declaration during the presentation of the districts five-year development plan at Gumine station last Thursday in the presence of Prime Minister James Marape.
He said Gumine would follow God’s will and wisdom as it implements its 2023 to 2027 development plan.
Dekena said 10 per cent of every year’s district budget would be used to fund church activities like building of infrastructure, funding of religious gatherings and other activities.
He said the help to churches would be for every denomination and would be equally distributed across the three local level governments of Gumine, Kumai-Bomai and Degine.
Dekena also called on the people, especially youths, to stop abusing alcohol and drugs and accept God’s pathways to enable the people of Gumine to live productively.
He accepted Prime Minister James Marape’s initiative to give a second chance for school dropouts and assured that the district would help apart from providing school fee subsidies for students.
