AIR Niugini came back from a 13-14 halftime deficit against top-of-the-table ‘threats’ Fairdeal Liquors, to shut the factory at fulltime, 31-21, at the Rita Flynn Netball Courts in Port Moresby yesterday.
The airliners, overwhelmed at their own net and goal by Fairdeal’s attack of Tetu Paleni (GS) and Ware Thoa (GA) early in the match, hustled up smarter in the middle and dominated well into the second 20 minutes.
A fiery display by Jean Torea (GD) in the face of the Fairdeal centre attack was well assisted by Karina Kwarara (WA) and Aivu Logona (C).
The trio shut all Fairdeal options, servicing their attack of Stella Wakela and Joyce Nau for their runaway 10-point win at the end.
The end result could possibly take Air Niugini up to the top of the table, with the top now congested, with yesterday’s shock results.
In the earlier matches, BSP One showed up at the courts with new found energy, to hand the highly-fancied Nambawan Super (NSL) a harsh 28-13 lesson, while Westpac once again collected competition points against the hard-luck Daltron.
Brian Bell returned to the winners circle again with a 25-23 win over IPA, after losing three in a row.
