A MAN who won a Christmas SP Brewery competition has decided to share his prize with his wantoks – because “it’s Christmas”.
Southern Highlander Joseph Awa won the weekly “2-minute grocery trolley dash worth K2000” at the Stop&Shop Harbour City in Port Moresby yesterday morning.
“My wife told me to just aim for rice and flour,” Awa said after collecting K1623.40 worth of items.
This included 17 bags of 10kg Trukai rice, two bags of 10kg plain Flame Flour, 11 bags of 10kg 3Roses Wholemeal Flour, eight bottles of Laga Highlands Meadows cooking oil and 23 cans of 340g Ox & Palm corned beef.
“It is not every day you get lucky,” said the father of three daughters, who was accompanied by his wife Jacky.
“My wife said that whatever you get, we will distribute.
“At least we give one rice bag, make them happy this Christmas.”
SP Brewery commercial manager Moses Williams said the promotion started on Dec 3 and would end on Jan 19.
“One winner will be picked each week to participate in the Trolley Dash in each participating outlet.
“During the Trolley Dash, one person has the chance to collect as many items as they can within two minutes.
“Customers can purchase any SP Lager product and go into a weekly draw.
“Winners will be picked a few days prior to the actual Trolley Dash each week.”
Outlets participating in the promotion include all Stop&Shop outlets (except Airways Express), Boroko Foodworld, Waterfront Foodworld, RH Gordon, RH Vision City, SVS 2-Mile, J-Mart (Erima) and Seeto Kui (Gordon). Ten winners have won in Port Moresby.
