Radio staff salaries may be processed in public service system, says Basil

THE salaries of staff of the National Broadcasting Corporation may be processed in the public service salary system, says Communications and Information Technology Minister Sam Basil.
He said he was negotiating to get this done next year.
“I understand the plight of the NBC staff who have been receiving their salaries late and sometimes do not get their salaries paid,” he said.
Basil called on the 22 governors to fund the NBC in their provinces.
“The NBC can transmit on both the shortwave and longwave frequencies and reaches all our people to stay up to date with current affairs,” he said.
“It is also a national broadcasting system and we should all support it and fund it as it reaches people even in the rural communities.”
Basil said the shortwave frequency was able to reach people living in the rugged terrains of the country.
