Marcus Rahman, the winner of Air Niugini’s naming competition, received his award from genera manager corporate services Marco McConnell in Port Moresby on Friday.
The company said in a statement that the theme by Marcus, ‘Higher Altitudes’, was chosen as the winning entry among 500-plus entries from Air Niugini staff who participated in the naming competition launched last month.
The competition focused on four key areas including costs, revenue, people/staff and operational excellence.
Rahman, a cadet engineer with Air Niugini’s corporate quality and safety department, was presented with two return airline tickets to any Air Niugini destination within the country and overseas plus K2000 spending money.
The naming competition is the initiative of new managing-director, Alan Milne, to name a programme which would be implemented next year with the aim of bringing Air Niugini from “a good airline to a greater airline”. Air Niugini acknowledged staff who participated in the competition.
