THE Ramu NiCo project in Madang is now in stable production with its operational phase and there will be consistency if the current production and management standard are maintained, an official says.
Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC) vice-president Yan Aizhong announced this recently following a high-level delegation visit to Kurumbukari mine in Usino-Bundi and Basamuk refinery in the Rai Coast from June 26-28, where they were updated on production and visited the employees on site.
Aizhong spoke highly of the company’s operational performance in recent years and pointed out that after reorganisation, China Minmetals Group and Metallurgical Corporation of China were in healthy condition following the opening up of the entire industry chain from metal mining, survey and design to operation.
Chinese state-owned Minmetals Group has amalgamated with MCC to give confidence to MCC’s operation in terms of finance, research and development, operation and production.
“As a strategically developed project of the New China Minmetals Group, MCC Ramu NiCo has continuously refreshed its production record and has become the benchmark and model of laterite projects in the world,” Aizhong said.
